Wood concrete forms are very similar to insulated concrete forms. They are comprised of foam insulation with metal or plastic joiner ties. Wood concrete forms are intended to be dry stacked and are designed with horizontal and vertical cells that are filled with concrete to form the structural portions of the wall. The wood fiber used in the manufacture of these forms may be partially or fully comprised of post industrial softwood which is then mineralized with cement. There are many benefits of using the concrete forms that is enhanced with cement wood. Many are energy efficient benefits since the insulation is on the exterior of the mass. This proximity of the mass to the indoor environment stabilizes the indoor air temperature and to take advantage of direct solar gains in heating periods.
