Hydroponic technology- the Wick system

Lets take a look at this Hydroponic technology. What does it mean exactly? Hydroponic technology is basically gardening without the dirt. It comes from Latin and literally means ‘working water’. I bet you didn’t know that. There are different types of hydroponic system. One of them is called a wick system. This works by way of a wick as the title suggests. It is the simplest type of system as it involves no moving parts. The nutrient solution is drawn into the growing medium from the reservoir by way of a wick which sucks it through. While this is a relatively simple system, the disadvantage of it is that larger plants may suck up the solution at a faster rate than the wicks can supply it.
