Young people today think it is safe to go without medical insurance. They constantly opt for the no insurance option at work and think they are ahead by getting more money in their paycheck each week. This might be true if they are healthy. If, however, the have a medical emergency, they will not feel so good about their choice. Paying for a sports injury or an accident, or even an emergency like an appendectomy, out of pocket can be excruciating on the budget. Not only that, but with something like a sports injury, now you have a preexisting condition that insurance will not cover in the future.
