The Legalities of Party Wall Surveyors

One day a guy came into my pizza shop talking about how my ovens were causing problems at the business next door.  I asked “What kind of problems?”  He said the bathroom of the nail salon next door was on the other side of the wall from my pizza ovens and making their bathroom too hot.  He explained to me that he was from the Party Wall Surveyors office and that certain legalities dictated that I work out some solution to the problem.  After I cooled off I went next door and talked to the manager/owner.  We ended up splitting the cost of putting more insulation into the wall. Of course, that had to be done from his side of the wall.
