Quite a number of consumer advocacy groups recommend against the purchase of extended warranties in general. In the UK, it has even been ruled by the Office of Fair Trading that the extended warranty market does not act in favor of consumers. Repairs are often cheaper than having to Purchase Extended Warranty deals. However, this is not always true in most cases. Even given the fact that most of these contracts are allegedly disadvantageous, if you play your cards right, this could actually be the cheaper option. This is especially true with expensive cars that are not particularly well known for reliability and for certain kinds of consumer electronics.
